NEW DELHI: The Cricket Club of India (CCI) on Saturday covered a portrait of Prime Minister Imran Khan amid rising tensions between the two neighbours after Pulwama attack.
The CCI is an affiliated unit of Indian cricket board.
The entire CCI premises, including its restaurant, adorn portraits of the greatest cricketers from all over the world.
The Pakistani prime minister’s portrait is one of them as he was a distinguished former cricket captain.
CCI President Premal Udani confirmed the development to India news agency on Saturday, saying a decision in this regard was taken on Friday.
“See, CCI is a sports-club and we have photographs of past and present cricketers from all countries. We wanted to show, in our way – displeasure – on whatever is happening right now. It is mark of protest. We have covered it as of now but can’t say right now if we would take it down,” Udani told Press Trust of India.
India has blamed for Pakistan the Pulwama attack in which over 40 security personnel were killed earlier this week.
Pakistan has asked New Delhi to share the evidence and do not get indulge in the blame game.
