ISLAMABAD: Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said he started facing immense pressure and difficulties after initiating treason case against former dictator Pervez Musharraf.
Speaking to reporters at the Accountability Court, he said he was advised in a veiled threat not to move against Musharaf.
He said he was asked through Asif Ali Zardari to lend parliamentary support to the second martial law imposed by Musharraf but he refused. “This is the summary of my actual crime,” he said.
The supreme leader of the PMLN said he received a message from an officer of an intelligence agency in which he was asked to either resign or take a long leave.
“I was dismayed to have received such a message from a subordinate department.
He said as the trial of Pervez Musharraf began he start to realize how difficult it was to bring a dictator to justice.
“All the weapons have been built to target politicians, and when it comes to military dictators the iron start melting,” he said.
The defiant PMLN supremo said the chief aim of 2014 sit-in was to pressure him. “Umpire’s finger is about to raise. Who was that umpire? Whoever he was, the sit-ins had his backing,” Nawaz sharif said.
