ILLINOIS: Tahera Rahman turned the first Hijab-wearing British woman to become a fulltime news telecaster.
Tahera has been down the lane to becoming an official on-screen reporter for quite long, hearing predictions that the piece of cloth will get her to hear a lot of Nos – which she did as well.
With three years of her career invested for Chicago radio station and freelance, she did face rejection for entry-level reporting jobs across the country.
After two years producing the station’s evening news, Rahman was recently moved to the designation as a fulltime onscreen reporter at Local 4 News in Illinois’ Quad Cities, a CBS-affiliated television station. The 27-year-old has herself been appearing on the headlines since then.
Mariam Sobh, another Chicago-based journalist and Tahera’s mentor, mentioned of Tahera’s fifteen years of efforts to get her hands on a TV reporting job for 15 years and how her time went with tracking the issue for just as long.
