NEW DELHI: India has sought a guarantee from Pakistan that RAW’s death row agent Kulbhushan Yadav’s family members would not be questioned or harassed when they visit Pakistan.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Raveesh Kumar, responding to Pakistan’s offer of arranging a meeting between Kulbhushan and his wife, said in a statement that Yadav’s wife and mother would like to meet him, along with an Indian envoy.
Apart from this, India has also sought a sovereign guarantee from Pakistan that the Yadav’s family members would not be harassed or questioned when they visit him, India media reported.
Raveesh Kumar said the Indian government is determined to “pursue all measures” with “full vigour” so as to secure the final release of Yadav.
Pakistan is yet to respond to India's statement.
Yadav, an Indian RAW agent was arrested in Pakistan on espionage charges. He was awarded death sentence by the Field Court Martial General (FCGM) under the Pakistan Army Act (PAA) for espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan.
The agent, arrested from Balochistan, in a video confession had admitted for being involved in anti-Pakistan activities.
Pakistan raised this issue at all international forums and shared dossiers with the international community including the United Nations.
Earlier this month, Pakistan had extended offer of meeting to the wife Kulbhushan Yadav with her husband.
According to the Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Kulbhushan’s wife would be invited to Pakistan and the meeting with her husband would be arranged on Pakistani soil on humanitarian grounds.
