BEIJING: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, would help enhance regional connectivity and promote common development as well as prosperity for regional countries, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.
Responding to a question during her regular press briefing here, she hoped that India and Pakistan would resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue and negotiation.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that the CPEC would not change Beijing’s stance on the Kashmir issue.
The Belt and Road Initiative was an open and cooperative one and operated under the principle of joint contribution, extensive consultation and shared benefits, she added.
She said that all the countries along the Belt and Road are welcomed to join the initiative to share development opportunities and benefits.
