SHARJAH: Quetta Gladiators have been set a target of 118 runs in the ninth Twenty20 match of the second Pakistan Super League here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

The match was reduced to 16 overs a side after rain interrupted twice –after the toss and later in the 13th over.

Peshawar Zalmi made 117 for three in 16 overs after being put into bat by Quetta Gladiators.

Tamim Iqbal, who has just arrived from Bangladesh, smashed an unbeaten 46-ball 62 with four sixes and as many fours. He added 75 runs with Sohaib Maqsood for the unbeaten fourth wicket stand after Peshawar Zalmi lost three top-order batsmen for 42 runs.

Sohaib scored 30 not out from 24 balls with two fours and a six a four.

Earlier, Tamim and Mohammad Hafeez (16) provided a fine start of 41 from 35 balls before three wickets fell within the span of just one run as Kamran Akmal got a duck and Eoin Morgan was dismissed for one.

Both teams have played three matches each so far, won two and lost one.

Three changes were made for Peshawar Zalmi as Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan and Mohammad Asghar have been replaced by Junaid Khan, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, all playing for the first time in the tournament.

Quetta Gladiators made only one change, bringing in Zulfiqar Babar in place of Umar Gul.
