Real Madrid youth team wins U20 Intercontinental Cup after dramatic final

Real Madrid have reportedly added another international trophy to their collection after defeating Chilean side Santiago Wanderers 3-1 in the World Cup championship match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Alvaro Lopez entered the final as reigning titleholder Youth Champions League winners after defeating Club Brugge in May while Santiago Wanderers had secured their spot through official competition. Meanwhile, several players have been already involved around Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad this season featuring for Madrid, Jorge Cestero and Alex Ciria.

The compelled resignation of the Chilean side forced into an initial modification and their first submission of the afternoon.

Wanderers persisted through threats and succeeded two further attempts on goal before half-time despite playing short-handed. Real Madrid went into the interval with a narrow 1-0 advantage keeping the race wide open.

On the contrary, Valenzuela was terminated a second yellow card while Carvacho was giving his marching orders for contesting the decision. With Santiago Wanderers down to eight players on the pitch, Real Madrid took advantage.
