Max Domi to miss Maple Leafs training camp amid complications from surgery
Max Domi is expected to address his condition publicly 'in the near future'
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi will miss the start of training camp after failing his physical due to complications from off-season surgery.
General manager John Chayka said on Wednesday that Domi, 31, remains out indefinitely.
The team has not disclosed the nature of his injury or surgery. Domi is expected to address his condition publicly “in the near future.”
Toronto announced in May that an issue had developed after Domi underwent a procedure for an injury that affected him throughout the 2025-26 season.
Meanwhile, defenceman Chris Tanev has been cleared to play after undergoing surgery following an injury-hit season.
“He had a good summer,” Chayka said. “He had a pretty large surgery to finish [last] season and has had an amazing recovery. I feel really confident that his injuries are in a good place, he’s as healthy as anybody.”
Morgan Rielly arrived at camp with a viral condition but is expected to be ready for opening night.
“He’s working his way through that, nothing we’re worried about,” Chayka said.
“He will probably be ramped a little slower than we expect, but he’s expected to be ready for opening night.”
