Lindsay Clancy faces potential setback as expert rejects postpartum psychosis as true diagnosis

It looked like a battle. Lindsay Clancy's lawyer and the prosecution's expert locked in a testy exchange during the trial today.

Kevin Reddington, who is representing the mom-of-three, reportedly employed two strategies to hurt the psychiatric witness, i.e, Dr. Avram Mack.

Initially, he went for the heart of the case that is postpartum psychosis.

Clancy's defense has not been that she did not kill her children — she herself admitted she did — but instead the legal team argued that she was suffering from the symptoms of the disease when she carried out the act.

In this regard, Mack's testimony reportedly did not come in handy.

When pressed by Reddington, the expert said there is no simple answer to whether postpartum psychosis is recognized as a diagnosis.

Rather, his refusal to give a plain response could be a damaging setback for the Clancys' defense.

Mack even went on to say that Postpartum psychosis is not a true diagnosis.

He strengthened his argument by citing the American Psychiatric Association.

According to Mack, the institute only considers postpartum psychosis currently a proposed illness.

However, he does add that women going through postpartum depression can experience psychosis.

Unconvinced, Reddington tapped into personal direction.

He questioned Mack's credentials and experience. Somehow, he apparently succeeded there.

The expert admitted that current testimony in the Clancy case marked the third time in his career that he had been in such a role in court.

Regardless, Clancy is on trial for the murder of her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, in her home in 2023.
