Chris Evans reveals Russo brothers' 'love' beating up Captain America: Here's why
Chris Evans also says Captain America will face the 'worst' in 'Avengers: Doomsday'
According to Chris Evans, the Russo brothers – directors of Avengers: Doomsday – have a knack for something when it comes to Steve Rogers, or Captain America: putting him through hell.
Though meant to be a joke, the actor, however, offered a glimpse in a light-hearted way into what is packed for his character in the forthcoming Marvel film.
Appearing at Boston Fan Expo, he told the audience, "The Russos love beating up Steve Rogers."
He quipped, "Their favourite thing to do is to just beat the crap out of him."
Per Evans, the Russo brothers believe a superhero must get a cruel beating for him to rise up.
"To them, that's what makes a hero, and that's someone who gets punched so many times but still gets up."
That is why the actor joked, "They keep finding new ways to kick his butt."
However, Evan teased that what Captain America had to face in Avengers: Doomsday will trump his previous hardships.
"But this one was brutal and a really, really good examination into his nature and his values. I'll say... it's probably something you haven't seen yet, but you will."
Returning eight years after bowing out in peace, Evans' Captain America is set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday on Dec. 18.
