Vegas Golden Knights tie playoff series after overtime win against Utah Mammoth
Shea Theodore scored the winning goal with just 51.5 seconds remaining in overtime
The Vegas Golden Knights have levelled their playoff series after a dramatic 5-4 overtime win over the Utah Mammoth.
Shea Theodore scored the winning goal with just 51.5 seconds remaining in overtime, sealing the result after Vegas had surrendered a three goal lead.
“We just didn’t quit,” Theodore said, according to the Sportsnet.
The Golden Knights appeared to have won earlier in overtime, but a goal from Pavel Dorofeyev was disallowed for offside.
“It was good we never stopped. It sucks that one got called back, but it was good to get it done”, Theodore added.
Vegas had taken control early, building a 3-0 lead before Utah responded with four consecutive goals to move ahead in the third period.
Brett Howden scored late in regulation to force overtime.
“I liked the way we responded in the third after they scored. We stuck with it”, eh said.
Utah coach Andre Tourigny said: “I’m proud of the way our guys responded to adversity,” while Vegas coach John Tortorella added: “We started really well, lost ourselves for a bit.”
The best of seven series is now tied 2-2, with Game 5 set to take place in Las Vegas.
