'Sister' reveals DJ Dan's cause of death

Thousands of fans have expressed shock and sorrow over the death of legendary West Coast house producer DJ Dan who passed away at the age of 57.

The artist's death was confirmed by his representative in a statement to Billboard on Sunday, March 29.

Early reports following the announcement of DJ Dan's death on March 28, 2026, left the cause unknown, as official statements from his representatives and booking agency expressed sorrow over the loss of the influential West Coast house pioneer without providing any specific details.

This led to widespread speculation and unverified rumors circulating online. 

Meanwhile, Dora King, who claims to be DJ Dan, said on Facebook that he had passed away from a massive heart attack, a detail that has since been widely reported though it has not received full official confirmation from all sources.

Earlier, a spokesperson said , "It is with profound sorrow, deep admiration, and an enduring sense of gratitude and love that we announce the passing of Daniel Wherrett — known professionally to the world simply as DJ Dan — one of the most beloved, genre-defying, and genuinely influential pioneers in the history of American electronic music.”.

“He leaves behind not just a discography, but a culture — a way of feeling music that touched millions of souls across four decades and five continents. He often said he felt his purpose in life was ‘to heal through music,’” added the spokesperson.
