Alex Warren breaks silence over technical mishap during 2026 Grammys set
Alex Warren did his debut Grammy performance at the 2026 Grammys
Alex Warren suffered technical issues during his debut performance at the 2026 Grammys.
Warren was dominated in the Best New Artist category alongside Sombr, Addison Rae, Leon Thomas, The Marias, Katseye, Lola Young, and Olivia Dean, who won the coveted gong.
During his performance, the Ordinary singer, 25, walked from the audience to the stage and soon began suffering issues with his earpiece. Singers wear earpieces to help them hear themselves while performing in a loud place.
He was seen fumbling with the pack on his back. At one point, the device fell out just as he reached the song's chorus. This made the singer fall half a beat behind. He recovered before the next part of the performance, which saw him ascend over the crowd on a lift.
The exasperated singer ultimately pulled the earpiece off when the performance was over.
Warren later shared a video of what he heard from his earpiece during the performance on TikTok and captioned it, "this would only happen to me."
While he didn’t win the new artist award at the Grammys, he won the Best New Artist at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
In an interview on CBS Mornings, he opened up about his life before Ordinary went viral on TikTok.
"My entire life, I wasn’t the best singer in my class. I wasn’t amazing," Warren said. "My choir teacher did not believe in me, to say the least."
He explained that his voice isn't "stereotypical," and has more rasp than singers normally have. This led him to believe that he didn’t have "the voice that people liked."
"I think I’ve worked really hard to become who I am today and that was one of those moments I kind of got to look up in the sky and be pretty stoked," Alex Warren added.
