Paul McCartney reveals how close he came to giving up music
Sir Paul McCartney revealed why he felt like giving up music
Paul McCartney dedicated everything to The Beatles, and when the band fell apart, he fell apart.
Paul is opening up about his life, music, and The Beatles in a new Prime Video documentary, Paul McCartney: Man on the Run.
The band, comprised of McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, broke up in 1970, leaving the leader depressed. After The Beatles broke up, Paul formed the band Wings with his wife Linda.
In the trailer, he said, "The Beatles had been my whole life, really. When we split up, I thought I'll never write another note of music ever. I had fear of being a grown-up."
"I felt very depressed, but I was very lucky because I had Linda," he added.
"Well, we’ve got two members," he said, recalling the birth of Wings.
"When did you first discover Linda could sing?" a man asked the musician. He replied, "On the wedding night."
"Wings was a dud when it first come out," the Hey Jude singer recalled.
"If anybody badmouthed us, I was thinking, 'I'm going to make the best record you've ever heard.'... People thought we were totally crazy, but that was our way," he added.
Wings ultimately made a name for itself with hits like Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, Jet and Silly Love Songs.
