Critics Choice Awards 2026: Owen Cooper makes history with big win
2026 Critics Choice Awards took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, on January 4
Teen actor Owen Cooper made history with a big win at the 31st Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday, January 4.
The 16-year-old took home the trophy for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Netflix’s hit limited series Adolescence.
With this big win, Owen became the youngest male to receive a Critics' Choice Award.
During his award acceptance speech, the young actor revealed how the past year has changed his life.
“While this past year has been a complete whirlwind for my family and me, honestly," said the Wuthering Heights star. It’s changed our lives forever, and we’re forever grateful. We’ve cherished every single moment of it."
Expressing gratitude to the creators of the show, Owen said, “To the directors, to the producers, to the cast, the crew, you took me on an emotional journey I never imagined I could go on."
"You believed in me, you pushed me when things were hard and showed incredible patience when it took me to get there," he continued.
Owen added, "Some of those moments were really, really tough, and I couldn’t have done it without you. Receiving this award means more to me than I can put into words.”
The four-part miniseries Adolescence premiered on Netflix on March 13, 2025.
