Kurt Russell on choosing Colorado over Los Angeles: 'Make any difference'
Kurt Russell opens up about why he left Los Angeles and moved to Colorado with his partner, Goldie Hawn
Kurt Russell recently opened up about leaving Los Angeles behind and relocating to Colorado with his partner, Goldie Hawn.
For those unaware, Russell and Hawn are one of the longest-standing couples in Hollywood, as they have been together since 1983 but have not yet tied the knot. The first crossed paths on the set of Disney’s 1966 comedy musical western film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band but emerged as an official couple when they were shooting their 1984 film Swing Shift.
At the Madison FYC Panel in Los Angeles on May 30, Russell chatted with PEOPLE magazine, where he reflected on his decision to move out of Los Angeles for Colorado.
The 75-year-old American actor, who owns a log-cabin lodge with Hawn in Colorado, told the outlet that his residence allows him to do "the things that I want to do on a day-to-day basis.”
He explained, “What I want to look at, what I want to be a part of — all the things that Colorado has to offer. I wanted to eventually get into the ranching life."
"When Goldie and I got together, a couple of years later, we both built a ranch there together, where our family has grown up. That was 40 years ago,” Russell noted, referring to his and Hawn’s blended family.
He went on to clarify that he was not trying to “escape” Los Angeles when he decided to move to Colorado, stating that it was a less common thing in Hollywood at that time.
“I wasn't escaping. I was just living where I live. I was fortunate that it really didn't make any difference. But when I did it, nobody else was doing that. I had many people tell me, ‘Well, that's goodbye. That's it.' I said, ‘Well, we'll see,’” the Tombstone star quipped.
It is pertinent to mention that Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have one biological child together, with three children from their previous relationships.
