Kanye West breathes sigh of relief as Netherlands drops major decision on upcoming shows
The rapper's fate in Europe finally decided after series of concert cancellations
Kanye West has received the green signal for his upcoming concert in the Netherlands.
Following his record-breaking performance in Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium on Saturday, which drew 118,000 crowd, the Netherlands government has announced that the rapper is allowed to perform in his two shows as no evidence was found against him to ban him from entering the country.
“Solid grounds are needed to bar people? from entering [the country]. We have not found those in the analyses that were conducted," the statement of Deputy Prime Minister Bart van den Brink read.
"His past statements are not, at this moment, a reason to deny him entry.”
West, also known as Ye, originally planned a world tour to promote his new album Bully, but failed after his shows in London, France, Switzerland, and Poland, were cancelled after the backlash to his anti-semitic comments.
This statement appear contrary to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's statement, who defended the decision to let West hold a show in the UK.
He wrote on X, "This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism.
"We will always take the action necessary to protect the public and uphold our values."
The Stronger rapper is all set for his upcoming two shows at the GelreDome in Arnhem in Netherland on June 6 and 8, respectively.
