Jay-Z disses Drake in 4-min blistering freestyle after six-year hiatus
Jay-Z took a potshot at Drake after his album 'Iceman' featured a song that dissed him
Jay-Z has, at last, broken his silence on a series of rappers. Drake was among them.
In his first solo concert after over five years, Shawn Carter — the rapper's real name — unloaded a blistering freestyle at Root Picnic.
This is a music festival annually held by the hip hop group The Roots.
Nevertheless, Jay-Z performing his freestyle took a direct aim at Drake, who was riding on the success of his new albums.
In one of his albums, Drizzy slammed the Grammy winner in the track Janice STFU, rapping, "The jig is up."
Responding to this dig, Jay-Z delivered razor-sharp lyrics, calling Drake out by firing back.
"The jig is up, n**** I'm up 10; wrong chart champ, n***** looked up to Hov; I never looked up to them."
Hov, the nickname of Jay-Z, did not stop there.
In what appeared to be a clapback to Drake, he rapped, "Those crackers got your publishing checks; go talk tough to them; don't talk success to me."
"You n***** is workers, in perpetuity is how your contract is worded," the 56-year-old spitted bars.
It is worth noting Drake in his early career was mentored by Jay-Z.
