Inside Prince William, Princess Kate's marriage after ordeal that 'drives couples apart'
Prince William and Kate Middleton have faced a lot in the past few years
Prince William and Kate Middleton have emerged stronger from the past few years of turmoil.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have made noticeable changes in their public dynamic, with gentle PDA now being a routine thing as opposed to the no touch rule they followed before.
"He treats her like his bride," royal historian Amanda Foreman told People. "They seem more loved-up than ever."
An example of their new dynamic was on display when they attended the at the Royal Variety Performance in November. William lovingly lifted Kate’s hand and kissed it. He also kept his hand on her back as they entered the Royal Albert Hall.
The outing was special for the couple, who share kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, as it was their first red carpet together after Kate’s cancer battle in 2024.
"What they have been through over the last few years has been so terrible," Foreman remarked.
"That either drives couples apart, or, in their case, it brings them together. It irons out the kinks and enables them to see each other clearly," she added.
Kate faced global internet speculation about her wellbeing when she hid from the spotlight from January to March in 2024.
The Princess had to break cover in March and reveal that she’d been diagnosed with cancer after an abdominal surgery in January and was undergoing treatment.
"She didn’t just face a life- threatening illness — the global Internet went after her," Foreman highlighted. "It was a character assassination."
Princess Kate announced in January 2025 that she's in remission.
