Prince Harry’s 'wicked stepmother' dig at Camilla sparks royal backlash
King Charles reclaims Frogmore Cottage after Harry’s insult
Prince Harry’s insult against Queen Consort Camilla has pushed King Charles to his limit, resulting in the dramatic eviction of Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage.
The Windsor residence was once a generous gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II, which was reclaimed after Charles decided the Duke of Sussex had “crossed a line” back in March 2023.
Sources say the couple were “requested to vacate,” leaving them stunned, while two other senior royals were said to be “appalled” at the drama.
Prince Harry’s memoir Spare particularly remarks critical of Camilla and his wife, which left the King furious.
The situation intensified just before an incident that allegedly left Prince William “disturbed” over Meghan Markle’s handling of the missing Diana diamonds, adding yet another layer of tension to the already strained family dynamics.
Harry repeatedly refers to Camilla as “the Other Woman,” even questioning whether she might become a “wicked stepmother” and alleging she converted his bedroom into a personal dressing room.
Palace insiders say that the King acted swiftly after advisers highlighted the remarks, branding the memoir “the ultimate act of disrespect.”
Royal historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop warns that while public opinion may favour the King, the timing so close to the Coronation risks creating awkward optics, especially as Andrew’s housing situation at Frogmore is entangled in the fallout.
