Prince Harry, who had extended an olive branch earlier this year, could be able to make amends with his elder brother Prince William after all.
The relationship between King Charles’s two sons appear to be at a stalemate as neither of the princes are on speaking terms with one another for the past three years.
However, it seems that some cracks are beginning to appear since Harry met with his father during a ‘private tea’ at Clarence House in September during his UK trip. The monarch and his younger son have reportedly kept in touch and some reports even suggest that Charles is discussing the matter of Harry with his heir.
The latest clash between Harry’s Canadian tour with William’s fifth Earthshot Prize Award ceremony had further soured any potential chances of some peace. A royal expert believes that all hope is not lost for the brothers still.
During a secret meeting between top aides of the King and Harry, the Duke of Sussex had offered his diary engagements to Buckingham Palace and had extended the courtesy to Kensington Palace as well. Although, the Prince of Wales did not respond to the gesture.
On the matter of Harry’s visit to Canada, a spokesman had said that palace communications was informed of the tour but The Times reported that no one at the Firm received a memo.
Former royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that Harry and William “need to get their ducks lined up if there is to be any possibility of a reconciliation”.
She suggested that the chances of any amends are “extremely remote” but the King is “willing to have some sort of relationship with Harry”.
Even though Earthshot was massive event of the whole year for William, Harry couldn’t time the announcement at any other time due to his security concerns.
Sources shared that since Harry was stripped off his security after his royal exit, the team can only reveal details of the visit closer to the event, much different than how things are for William and the King. It suggests Harry may not have been trying to steal the spotlight away from his brother.
Bond did point out that Harry is trying to be “sensitive” towards the royals given his heartfelt essay on the occasion of Remembrance Day. Although, Harry needs to put in a little more effort if he wants any kind of reunion with his brother again.
