Trump ally proposes Barron Trump for top role on new TikTok board

A suggestion has been made to put Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump, in a top role at TikTok, the popular social media app.

The idea comes as the platform’s U.S. operations are moving to be under American control following an executive order signed by President Trump.

The proposal was made by Jack Advent, President Trump’s former social media producer, who is sometimes nicknamed “TikTok Jack.”

Advent specifically mentioned the possibility of Barron Trump, who is currently attending New York University, being appointed to TikTok’s board.

He told the Daily Mail: “I’m hopeful President Trump will consider appointing his son Barron and maybe other young Americans to TikTok’s board to help ensure it remains an app young people want to keep using.”

Advent believes young Americans like Barron would help keep the app appealing to its main audience - the youth.

President Trump recently returned to the platform and claimed he “saved” it from a ban in the United States. His executive order requires U.S. investors to own a majority stake in the company’s American operations.

In a video posted to his TikTok account, Trump claimed:

“To all those young people of TikTok, I saved TikTok, so you owe me big.”

“And now you’re looking at me in the Oval Office.”

However, Barron Trump has not publicly commented on the possibility of joining TikTok’s board.

The news of the rumoured job comes after Barron Trump has been credited with influencing his father’s strategy to better connect with young voters particularly regarding the use of online platforms and podcasts.
