KJ Apa feels 'honored' to depict Jimmy Stewart in upcoming biopic
KJ Apa opens up about what he learned after playing Jimmy Stewart in forthcoming biopic
KJ Apa recently opened up about how it felt portraying Jimmy Stewart in the forthcoming biopic.
According to the official synopsis, Jimmy "focuses on the most transformative season in Jimmy Stewart’s life — from winning the Academy Award for Best Actor in The Philadelphia Story to enlisting and becoming a combat pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the beginning of World War II."
The film starred Apa alongside Neal McDonough, Kara Killmer, Sarah Drew, Julian Works, Jason Alexander, Rob Riggle, Max Casella, Jen Lilly, Christopher McDonald, and others.
Chatting with PEOPLE magazine to promote the upcoming biopic, the 28-year-old New Zealand actor and musician admitted that he feels honoured to portray the legendary American actor, especially getting a chance to live in the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Voicing his feelings, he said, "I am very honored to play Jimmy Stewart, and to be a part of that Golden Age of Hollywood."
The Riverdale star went on to confess that he was not “familiar” with that era that helped Stewart become a star.
"I grew up in New Zealand and wasn't really that into film, other than Jim Carey films," Apa laughingly quipped.
It is pertinent to mention Jimmy Stewart worked in a great number of movies, such as Rear Window, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, It's a Wonderful Life, Vertigo, The Philadelphia Story, Anatomy of a Murder, and many others.
Jimmy is scheduled to hit theatres in the United States on November 6, 2026. Watch the full trailer here.
