Matthias Schmid has emerged as one of the surprise contenders at the PGA Championship, with his longtime girlfriend Nora Worlke supporting him during his biggest week in professional golf.
The 28-year-old German golfer spent much of Sunday’s final round near the top of the leaderboard at Aronimink Golf Club as he chased a potential first major title.
Schmid, who played college golf at the University of Louisville, only turned professional in 2021.
His performance this week marks the best major championship result of his career after previously making just one cut at a major tournament.
Worlke, who is also from Germany, has largely remained out of the spotlight as Schmid’s profile has grown on the PGA Tour.
The couple keep their relationship relatively private on social media, though Worlke has occasionally shared photographs from trips and events with the golfer over the years.
According to her Instagram Story, Worlke is currently at Aronimink supporting Schmid during the tournament.
