Angelina Jolie’s heart is filled with love for her daughters as they helped her live life beyond motherhood after her divorce from Brad Pitt.

While giving an interview to Yahoo Entertainment to promote her recently released film Couture, Jolie admitted that her role as Maxine Walker pushed her to reengage in some deep self-reflection regarding her personal life.

For those unaware, Walker is a filmmaker who meets a romantic partner in Paris around the time of her breast cancer diagnosis. Notably, the role comes after the 51-year-old American actress and filmmaker’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, succumbed to breast and ovarian cancer in 2007.

Referring to her divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt in 2016, Jolie told the outlet, “I haven't dated or been with anyone since I divorced a decade ago, right? So, I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centered in my life if I'm focusing on my children and my family.”

To breathe life into Walker’s character, the Maria star had to step back and reevaluate her personal life.

“So, it took me a second to say, ‘Look, she can also love her daughter and be dedicated to her daughter and also need this as a woman and receive this as a woman,’” she noted. “And that in fact, it might be very healing for her.”

“Life has broken me a little. I have to live again. Be free again,” Jolie admitted.

It is pertinent to mention that the Oscar-winning actress is the mother of three daughters, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and Vivienne, 17, and three sons, Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, and Knox, 17.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt adopted Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, while Shiloh and twins, Vivienne and Knox, are their biological children.
