Meet CORLEO: Kawasaki unveils rideable robot horse
The robot is a mix of wolf, horse, and motorcycle
Kawasaki Heavy Industries has just unveiled a futuristic, rideable, four-legged robot named CORLEO, which is being showcased in Dubai as part of the country’s push for technological innovation.
The robot is a mix between a horse, a wolf, and a motorcycle. It is a new kind of vehicle designed especially for off-roading and adventure.
CORLEO has no wheels. It has four independent robotic legs with rubber “hooves” that can handle different types of ground, like gravel, grass, or rocks.
It is powered by a hydrogen engine, which makes it a cleaner, more eco-friendly option compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles.
The robot is designed to be controlled by shifting body weight, creating a natural and intuitive riding experience.
The robot uses sensors and advanced AI to constantly balance itself and adapt to the terrain. This is what allows it to move so smoothly over bumpy or uneven ground.
While the robot was developed by a Japanese company, Kawasaki, Dubai has a strong focus on showcasing and adopting future technologies. The city is actively working to become a global leader in smart mobility with initiatives like the “Dubai World Congress and Challenge for Self-Driving Transport.”
Takashi Torii, an Executive Officer at Kawasaki, explained the concept behind the robot in an interview.
“CORLEO is a completely new mode of transportation that integrates Kawasaki’s motorcycle and robotics technologies. This is a concept that only a comprehensive heavy industry manufacturer could develop.”
