Tesla humanoid robot goes viral for serving popcorn
Tesla’s robot delights guests with its hospitality
Tesla’s humanoid robot stole the spotlight at the soft launch of the Tesla diner and Supercharger station in Los Angeles. Optimus can be seen serving popcorn into a paper bag and giving a thumbs up in a friendly manner.
Primarily, Tesla’s retro-futuristic dinner features robot serving popcorns, some of which are shaped like the Cybertruck, alongside massive movie screens.
Elon Musk, a renowned businessman known for his leadership at Tesla, has shared a video on social media. He believes that it is a significant step towards the development of humanoid robots capable of real-world interactions.
He said, “This will become normal in a few years suggesting that such demonstrations are only a preview of what’s to come.”
The notion of the Optimus project began in 2021 with the concept of unveiling the Tesla Bot. Afterwards, its debut was delayed, but by mid-2024, Musk provided an update on the robot’s commercial roll out time that is expected to commence in 2026.
In addition, during the same year, "We, Robot" event, showcasing the company’s advancements in robotics and autonomous technologies revealed that some units on display were being controlled remotely, indicating technical challenges.
While the event was a public display of how robots and artificial intelligence have entered our lives, Optimus neither jerked nor spilled, instead executed its actions perfectly like a human.
