Emma Stone reunited with the reporter who went viral for sweetly addressing the actress by her real name last year at Cannes Film Festival.
The Amazing Spider-Man star returned to the annual event to promote her new film Eddington and crossed paths once again with the Kazak journalist, who had called her 'Emily' during a press conference the year before.
At this year’s press event, the journalist reminded Stone of the memorable moment, saying, "I'd like to thank you for quite literally changing my life. Just a year ago, we were at the very same press room, where I addressed you by your real name, Emily."
The La La Land actress enthusiastically responded, "Yes, very good to see you".
The press member continued to express to her "warm and kind" acknowledgement which he said had "skyrocketed his career and personal life" both in Kazakhstan and in the Western media.
"That was incredibly sweet, and I'm so happy that a name could do that," Stone replied, before continuing the conversation about her project.
Previously, the two-time Oscar winning actress was overjoyed when the media representative referred to her by her birth name. She excitedly told Yorgos Lanthimos at that time, "That’s my name!"
This year, Stone was joined by her co-stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler, who spoke alongside filmmaker Ari Aster about their new thriller, Eddington.
The story takes place in New Mexico in May 2020 amid the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic and as civil unrest began to break out across the United States.
The film is slated for release on July 18th, 2025.
