Ariana Grande reveals 'shocking' truth behind her 'dramatic' voice transformation
Ariana Grande opens up about her sudden voice-change
Ariana Grande is getting candid about her ‘changing’ voice as she showcases valor in the face of recent criticism surrounding her vocals.
The 31-year-old multi-hyphenate star, who previously celebrated the success of her musical adaptation Wicked, shared unfiltered thoughts on her evolving voice during her regal appearance on the Smartless podcast.
Speaking exclusively to hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett about the relative criticism, the Side To Side singer explained, “The thing that I do that perplexes people so much – and it’s just so funny because if you’re a person who uses their voice, you know about this – is if I have a long day of press or if I have to sing, I’ll place [my voice] a little higher.
“I’ll change my vocal placement to kind of preserve.”
The American singer didn’t hesitate to offer an explanation as she revealed the real reason behind her desperate vocal adjustments.
She further went on to add, “That is just something that’s healthy for the voice. It’s just basically pitching your voice up a tiny bit.
“It’s just a normal thing for vocalists. But people are like, ‘That’s not her natural voice.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, it is actually, but it’s just a little higher. All of it is natural.’”
This comes on the heels of her public confrontation on Penn Badgley’s Podcrushed podcast in June 2024, where she surprisingly changed her voice mid-sentence.
