WhatsApp working on exciting emoji update for New Year celebrations
Meta's instant messaging app aims to enhance celebratory atmosphere with festive future update
WhatsApp is already gearing up for the festive New Year's celebrations this year with an exciting new feature that is set to be rolled out with an upcoming update, just in time for the festive period.
Meta's instant messaging app is preparing to roll out animated confetti reactions as part of the future update which is cureently available to select beta testers who have downloaded the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.24.17 update from the Google Play Store.
This new feature aims to enhance the celebratory atmosphere as users react to messages with festive-themed emojis.
Specifically, the animations will be triggered by the Party Popper, Partying Face, and Confetti Ball emojis, offering vibrant visual effects that capture the joyful spirit of the New Year to be used with celebratory messages, WABetaInfo reported.
Emojis that symbolise joy and festivity are expected to see widespread use during this season and WhatsApp is preparing for it by adding a delightful cosmetic touch to its reactions.
When users react to a chat message choosing one of the emojis, it triggers an engaging graphic effect: colourful confetti bursts out of the emoji, creating a lively animation, transforming a simple emoji into an interactive and engaging experience.
It's worth noting that this feature is available only to selected beta testers, but it is expected to be rolled out to all users soon, aligning perfectly with the spirit of the New Year celebrations.
