Kelly Ripa ‘looked away’ from Mark Consuelos at Disney Legends ceremony, here’s why

Kelly Ripa didn’t look at her husband Mark Consuelos when she was being awarded as a Legend at the Disney Legends ceremony, and here is why she did it.

The 53-year-old actress reminisced, while hosting Live with Kelly & Mark on Tuesday, Sept. 3, receiving the honourable award from her former co-host Ryan Seacrest, who exited the talk show in 2023.

“The one thing that we did that I thought was absolutely amazing was we went to Disneyland, and Kelly was presented with her Disney Legends award," explained Consuelos on the show, adding, “I was there watching your speech. I got teary-eyed.”

Ripa confirmed that she had seen Consuelos’ reaction in the crowd that evening.

“I know, I looked away from you when you did. I was like, 'Okay,' so I just looked at [fellow Disney Legends recipient] Angela Bassett the whole time,” she said, adding that she “didn’t want to be emotional” with him at that time, or she wouldn’t have been able to get a hold of herself.

“So, I just looked at Angela,” Ripa continued, sharing that Consuelos’ eyes “are very big and very expressive.”

She added, “He looks like the emoji where the eyes are filled with tears.”
