Ira Bowman, a 76-year-old former hairdresser, has a lifelong love affair with leopard print.
Her 23-year-old granddaughter, Betsy Stainsby, recently showcased Bowman’s animal-print boudoir in a TikTok video.
Betsy Stainsby took the internet on a tour of Bowman's remarkable home, which boasts over 500 items adorned with the distinctive leopard pattern. She told Newsweek that her grandmother owned more than 500 leopard-print items.
Stainsby, a marketing and events coordinator from King's Lynn in Norfolk, England, showcased the animal-print paradise on TikTok. The video garnered over 162,000 views and 15,000 likes.
Her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughter received the love of leopard print from her, she noted.
"I can't explain it. I've always liked leopard print,” Bowman told Newsweek.
Bowman's leopard-themed house features a lounge with leopard rugs, lamps, stools, blinds, vases, and even a leopard curtain holder. The kitchen is beautifully decked out, complete with leopard-print tea and coffee pots.
Stainsby affectionately describes her grandmother as a "glamor puss" who has been wearing leopard print for over 40 years. Bowman's fashion-forward choices have made her a local celebrity, and she's known for her candid opinions and relentless sassiness.
In a twist on tradition, Bowman wants guests at her funeral to honour her by wearing leopard print. Stainsby sums it up: "My nan is my best friend—an absolute icon."
Before her teaching certificate, she also completed a science foundation course at the Open University in 1972
