A primary school teacher in Northampton has been accused of killing her boyfriend.
Nick Billingham, 42, was allegedly stabbed to death at their home on November 1, 2021. His body was not found until months later in March 2022. He was buried in the garden of their Moore Street home.
After 50-year-old Fiona Beal denied the murder charges, the trial is set to begin next week. She maintains her innocence and remains in custody as the legal process unfolds.
The disturbing case has captured public attention, raising questions about what might have led to such a tragic outcome.
Specialist police teams, including a dog trained to find bodies, were called in. After four days of intensive search efforts, the body of Billingham was discovered.
A post-mortem examination later showed that Mr Billingham had died from a stab wound to the neck.
Beal was apprehended at a hotel in Cumbria, some 200 miles from the scene, just hours before Billingham's body was unearthed.
Beal appeared at the Old Bailey court via video link from HMP Peterborough.
Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, the Recorder of London, will hear the case, scheduled to commence on April 18th.
