Cristiano Ronaldo loses cool after Portugal setback
Angry Al-Nassr player makes inappropriate gesture at referee after Portugal's loss
Portugal were beaten 2-0 by Slovenia, who were considered the underdogs in yesterday’s international friendly but Cristiano Ronaldo‘s return to the national side didn’t go as planned.
Portugal managed just 2 shots on target despite having 64% of the possession, it was a sub-par display all around.
However, for Cristiano Ronaldo, the refereeing decisions were more infuriating than the performance. The Portuguese player let them know his frustration and did not spare the officials.
A raging Cristiano Ronaldo was walking towards the tunnel and could be seen making gestures with his hand following the game. He spotted 4th official Dejan Balazic and the Portuguese captain told the referee, “**** you, there are two penalty kicks” and displayed two fingers, according to Essentially Sports.
During the match, Ronaldo had his penalty appeals rejected by the referee and this seems to be what irked the Portuguese player during the match. However, it appears that his own performance also contributed to his anger.
Cristiano Ronaldo made just 27 passes with just 1 shot on target in 90 minutes.
Portugal’s game against Sweden saw Ronaldo’s absence as he was on a family vacation. However, Roberto Martinez & Co were utterly dominant in that encounter as they bested Sweden 5-2.
