A six-month-old baby girl was left alone inside a daycare after staff forgot about her and closed the building.

Three daycare staff members in Pennsylvania have been charged after they left a 6-month-old baby unattended inside the facility.

Later in the day on February 1, when the father, Camron Banks, arrived at the daycare half an hour before its closing, he found the building locked and dark. He immediately alerted emergency services to retrieve the baby from the locked building. “Nobody even knew where she was at,” Banks told KYW-TV

Emergency services were called in to help access the inside of the building, as the steel gate covering the front door couldn't be fully opened by the daycare's management. Firefighters broke open the gate to get inside the building. They found the baby sitting alone in a dark corner, covered in a blanket.

The child's mother, Jessy Flores, expressed concern about the lack of care at the daycare centre. The baby's mother said, "Nobody knew when she last ate, nobody knew when she was changed, nobody knew who she was with." Despite being dehydrated, the baby was found to be okay.

The daycare owner apologised, but he provided no explanation for the negligence. Local media tried to reach out to New Arisens for comment but were unsuccessful.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said on Tuesday that three staff members from New Arisens Childcare Solutions have been charged with endangering the life of a child, according to local media.
