Elon Musk doesn't deserve Ginsburg Award, is 'desecration' to Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Space X owner and Rupert Murdoch to be presented with the Ginsburg Award, named after late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
After the Opperman foundation announced the nominees for the Ginsburg Award, which includes Elon Musk and media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Jim Ginsburg — son of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg — has bashed the nominees, calling them "desecration of my mother’s memory," CNN reported.
He said, "if the foundation doesn't see the wisdom in desisting and ending the desecration of my mother’s memory", we will continue to fight it.
According to the foundations website, the Ginsburg award "celebrates leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary accomplishments in their chosen fields".
Previously, the award was only given to females but has now included men too.
Ruth passed away at the age of 87 in 2020 and is credited for raising voices on social issues such as abortion and immigration.
In addition to Musk and Murdoch, lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, actor Sylvester Stallone and financier Michael Milken will also be receiving the award.
Jim, in an interview to Paula Reid on CNN, said: "When you think of trying to create a more just society, which of course was my Mom’s ultimate goal, those are probably about the last names that would come to mind."
