PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has received the provincial government’s letter for the formation of a commission for a judicial inquiry into the May 9 violence.
According to sources within the Peshawar High Court, the provincial government’s letter has requested the appointment of judges for a judicial commission under the existing law to investigate and determine responsibility for the incidents of May 9. Consultations on the request are ongoing, and a final decision is expected soon.
The advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sent a letter to the Peshawar High Court requesting the establishment of a judicial commission, inquiry, or tribunal for a transparent investigation into the events of May 9.
The provincial government has asked the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to appoint a judge to head the judicial commission, inquiry, or tribunal.
