Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Chaudhry Kabir Ahmad Khan hosted a briefing session on tourism potential of Pakistan in honour of a Chinese media delegation.
The 18-member China Gansu Media delegation is on a visit to Pakistan to make photographic coverage of tourist attractions of Pakistan. The delegation members include Zhao Guangtian, Chen Xingfa and Mu Dehous from Chinese Gansu Modern Photography Magazine and Li Kesheng of China Hong Kond Tourism Magazine.
Chaudhry Kabir said that Pakistan’s most friendly country, China, is one of the largest domestic tourists market and its out bound travel is also the fastest growing in tourism market in the world. Pakistan shares above 500 kilometres of border with China situated next to Pakistan which is linked through Karakoram Highway.
The managing director said that Pakistan and China are operating a joint cross-border bus service under a bilateral agreement between the two countries since 1986. He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an ongoing development mega project which aims to connect Gwadar Port in southwestern Pakistan to China with a cost of $46 billion. This project will be completed in three years. It will give revolutionary boost to the economy not only for Pakistan and China but also to the land-locked adjoining states. The promotion of coastal tourism is an integral part of the plan. Similarly, the views of both Pakistan and China on the issues of Kashmir and Taiwan do not differ.
Kabir further said that the initiative taken by the Chinese delegation to make coverage will definitely help increasing tourist flow from China to Pakistan as well as projecting a soft, tourist friendly, secure and hospitable image of our country.
Speaking on the occasion, Zhao Gantian said that they are highly impressed and delighted to see the true colours of Pakistan. There is an immense tourism potential in Pakistan, which needs an aggressive marketing campaign to counter negative propaganda.
The PTDC managing director, on the occasion, also gave a detailed briefing through a projector about the beautiful mountains, valleys, tourism destinations and sites, traditions, culture and arts of Pakistan which was appreciated by the Chinese journalists.
The visit of the Chinese journalists, which started on November 2, would conclude on 9th of the current month during which they would be visiting Naran, Kalam, Swat and Skardu for making coverage of tourist attractions of Pakistan.
