PESHAWAR: The First Information Report (FIR) of the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) camp in Badaber was lodged at the Counter Terrorism Department Police Station under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 302, 324 and other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code on Saturday.
The fingerprints and samples for DNA test of the attackers were collected as the Counter Terrorism Department launched an investigation into the incident.
Sources said that some important leads had been found to identify the attackers and their facilitators.
The sources said that fingerprints of some of the attackers were collected by forensic experts. Samples were also collected for DNA tests. The sources added that threat alerts were issued recently in which it was mentioned that a group of 12 to 14 attackers was likely to target key installations, including that of the PAF, as well as important personalities in Peshawar and nearby areas.
Gloom prevailed all over the country as most of those killed in the PAF camp attack were laid to rest in different areas.
This was the biggest attack in Pakistan after the one on the Army Public School in December last year.
Also, search operations were carried out in villages and towns of Peshawar and Kohat that are close to Darra Adamkhel and Khyber Agency to hunt down the facilitators of attackers.
At least 29 persons, including 16 worshippers present inside a mosque and seven others preparing for Fajr prayers in their barracks were killed, when militants armed with rocket launchers, automatic weapons and hand grenades stormed the PAF camp in Badaber on the Inqilab Road near Surizai village.
The site of the attack was cleared after an exchange of fire between the attackers and security personnel during which Captain Asfandyar Bukhari and guards of the PAF sacrificed their lives. All the 13 attackers were killed. Asfandyar Bukhari had been a brilliant student and had also won the Sword of Honour as the best cadet at the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. His father, contented and brave, remarked at his funeral that now their family would be known due to Asfandyar Bukhari.
There were reports that the owner of the vehicle used in the attack was arrested. The police continued the search and strike operation in the limits of Badaber and Matani police stations to hunt down the facilitators of the attack.

He said the law enforcers arrested 63 suspected persons, including two Afghan nationals, for staying illegally in the area and recovered two Kalashnikovs, as many MP-5 guns, six pistols and hundreds of cartridges from them.
