This refers to the story “Say no to child marriage” by Aqil Baba (January 22, 2016). I agree with the writer since I also live in the same society and have faced plenty of social and cultural problems. Girls and boys are compelled to marry early. When they marry young, they lose so many values and opportunities in their lives. They have so many wishes, especially to be educated, which are forgotten afterwards.

Hey Ed,

This refers to the story “Say no to child marriage” by Aqil Baba (January 22, 2016). It is my appeal to all parents that they understand it as curse rather than follow it blindly.

Dear Ed,

This is reference to the story published on early marriages in Balochistan on 22 January in Us. I am myself a victim of this outdated practice. My father married me off when I was just14, although my family is rich. Now I am a mother of five children and I am only 26! This problem won’t go away unless the federal government intervenes.

Dear Ed,

The issue of 22 Jan was cool. But the letter section was not about the recent edition or write ups. I was going through some pretty old issues of Us and found a big difference in the sort of spirited debates in them and the lack of any serious feeling about issues in today’s readership. So, what has changed the mag - is it the writers or the readers?

It is possible that some readers are so desensitised that they are past caring, while there are probably some other readers who are indifferent to what’s happening nowadays. Or is it simply laziness, I don’t know. I miss the feel of the past Us where readers and writers seemed to have a connection. I wonder where it’s gone. Please bring back the old days! I will start by opining about almost all articles and letters in the mag from next week.

As-Salaam-O-Alaikum Editor!

It is indeed a great magazine and I will inshaALLAH write articles for it soon. I especially liked a segment in the Bits ‘n’ Pieces section, “Things that make good employees quit”. Furthermore, poetry section is also good. Keep it up Us magazine team. Great work.

Dilapidated school buildings

Dear Editor.

Like teachers, the buildings of government schools are old to boot. Reconstruction is necessary for an institutions after every decade passes but, in Balochistan, despite the enforcement of emergency, the education situation are going from bad to worse. Last year, at the Governmental High School Nasirabad, the roof of a classroom fell; some students died on the spot while many were injured. Recently, a similar incident occurred at a girls high school in Pasni that injured approximately five students. Because of such horrible accidents, sometimes students give up their education, so this is a direct cause of increasing illiteracy rate.

Thereby, the educational departments are requested to take the issue seriously. They must see to the maintenance of schools buildings in the province.

Reflection

Narrated by Abdullah bin Masud (R.A)

We used to say the greeting, name and greet each other in the prayer. Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) heard it and said: “Say, ‘At-tahiyyatu lil-lahi was-salawatu wat-taiyibatu . Assalamu ‘Alaika aiyuha-n-Nabiyu wa-rahmatu-l-lahi wa-barakatuhu. _ Assalamu alaina wa-’ala ‘ibadi-l-lahi as-salihin.. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-l-lah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abdu hu wa Rasuluh’. (All the compliments are for Allah and all the prayers and all the good things (are for Allah). Peace be on you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and blessings (are on you). And peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of Allah. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Apostle.) So, when you have said this, then you have surely sent the greetings to every good (pious) worship per of Allah, whether he be in the Heaven or on the Earth. “
