  • Born on the 22nd of April 1937 in New Jersey, U.S.
  • Was born to June Nicholson, an unmarried, 18 years old who was uncertain of his father’s identity. Was thereby raised by her parents as their own child, with June acting as his sister. Was informed of his true parentage by Time magazine researchers in 1974.
  • Trained as an actor with the Players Ring Theater.THE GREEN ROOM
  • Made his film debut in The Cry Baby Killer (1958), but Easy Rider (1969) gave him his big break and his first Oscar nomination. Has gone on to receive 11 more Academy Award nominations, making him the most nominated male actor in history, and has won an Oscar three times – two Best Actor trophies (1975 and 1997), and a Best Supporting Actor award (1983).
  • Has also starred in films including The Shining (1980), Batman (1989), A Few Good Men (1992), About Schmidt (2002), and The Departed (2006).
  • Hasn’t appeared in a new movie since How Do You Know (2010).
  • Was married to Sandra Knight (1962-1968); they have one daughter together. Also has four children from other relationships.

  • Has received negative reviews from critics, who found the film sweet but stale and unmemorable.
