The annual PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week will be held from September 27 to 29 in Lahore, it was recently announced in a press release. The platform, now in its sixth year, has featured over 60 bridal couturiers of the country to date and will continue to set trends in contemporary as well as traditional wedding wear, couture and hair and make-up. The #PLBW has established itself as the most credible and anticipated fashion week featuring bridal trends in the country; it’s a platform where every credible designer wants to show but is not always able to, due to limited number of slots.

The line-up for this year’s event is yet to be announced but we can hope and safely assume that some of the country’s biggest wedding wear designers will be showing. Last year’s strongest collections came from Elan, Sana Safinaz, HSY, Nomi Ansari and unforgettably, The House of Kamiar Rokni. Fahad Hussayn is also an integral part of PLBW and Ali Xeeshan, with his house of theatrics, always provides a much-needed dose of energy and excitement. Will we ever get over the Mickey and Minnie Mouse performance from last year?

Wedding wear is the most lucrative segment of every designer’s business but what works at bridal fashion week is some sort of innovation that allows wedding wear to evolve. Contrary to prêt a porter week that focuses on ready to wear, couture week needs added oomph, usually in the form of celebrity appearances, performances on the catwalk and creative show concepts that allow each showcase/collection to stand out.
