Jamaat-e-Islami’s anti-corruption train march begins today

PESHAWAR: The three-day Corruption Free Pakistan Train March of the Jamaat-e-Islami will commence from Peshawar today (Wednesday) by Awam Express and culminate at Karachi on May 27.

Ameer JI Senator Sirajul Haq will lead the march and address the gatherings at major railway stations on the route.

The central provincial and district level leadership of the JI would join the train march in phases.

Sirajul Haq had announced the country-wide protest against corruption in January.

Meanwhile, addressing the supreme council of the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) at Al-Mark al- Islami Peshawar on Tuesday, Sirajul Haq said that drone attacks were an attack on the country’s sovereignty but the rulers’ attitude on these was most shameful.

Haq said the territorial and ideological borders of the country were not secure in the presence of the present rulers.

The JI chief said that it was mainly due to corruption of rulers that the country’s economy was being controlled by the IMF and the World Bank which attached some new precondition at the time of issuing fresh cache of loan.

He said the goal of an Islamic and welfare state could not be achieved in the presence of the present rulers.

He said the 1973 constitution was a great helping factor in the enforcement of Islamic system as against secularism.
