MOSCOW: Russian president Vladmir Putin has claimed that forty countries including some G20 member states had financed the terrorist organization Daesh also known as ISIS.

According to the website of Russia Today (RT), Putin said he has provided examples based on Russian intelligence data in connection with the financing of ISIS.

"It's not the right time to figure out which country is more and which is less effective in the battle against ISIS, as now united effort is needed against the terrorist group," RT quoted the Russian president as saying.

Putin said some armed opposition groups consider it possible to start operations against ISIS with Russia's support but he added that Russia needs support from the United States, European Nations, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran.
