WANA: About 1,041 internally displaced persons (IDPs) families from South Waziristan have returned to their native areas in the 12th phase of the repatriation process, an official said on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Political Agent Zafar Islam said that the process would continue for a month. He said that a point had been set up for the registration of the IDPs in Khargi area in the Frontier Region (FR) Tank. He said that the political administration and army had set up a makeshift camp for the retuning families there. “The families are sent to their native areas in a convoy amid tight strict security,” he added. He said that 17,000 families, displaced as a result of the launch of the military offensive, have so far been sent back to their homes in South Waziristan.
