PARACHINAR: Teachers asked the security forces and political administration to take notice of the manhandling of a teacher at a roadside checkpoint in Kurram Agency.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Teachers Association’s office-bearers alleged that the security forces manhandled Syed Mufeed Hussain, a schoolteacher and a religious scholar, at the checkpoint in Mali Killay.
They alleged Syed Mufeed Hussain was blindfolded and tied to a tree. They claimed he was later tortured and sent to the lockup.“The checkpoints are established for eliminating terrorism but these should not be used for terrorising innocent civilians,” one of the teachers said.
They said the teachers and tribespeople were against terrorism, but would not let anyone insult them. The association’s office-bearers asked the security forces and political administration to take action against the accused or else they would launch a protest campaign from August 1.
