A 21-year-old youth was shot dead by his father in the Kot Lakhpat area on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Waqas Ali, son of Anayat Ali of Chandra village, Kahna. Police said that the accused Anayat had an exchange of harsh words with his son over an unknown issue in the morning and later shot him to death. Police shifted the body to morgue. However, no case was registered till the filing of this report.
ELECTROCUTED: Two labourers were electrocuted in an under construction house in Park View Society, Chung on Wednesday.It was reported that two labourers, yet to be identified, were working in an under construction house when one of them accidentally touched an electric wire, as a result of which, he received severe electric shock. His colleague attempted to protect him, but he also received serious burns and died on the spot. Police shifted the bodies to morgue.
DIES: A 16-year-old girl expired in a local hospital on Wednesday, a day after she had consumed some poisonous substance in her Ravi Road house.The girl was identified as Humaira, daughter of Mohammad Jamil of Ravi Road. It was reported that the girl had consumed some poisonous substance a day back over an unknown issue, as a result of which her condition went critical. She was admitted to a local hospital where she expired on Wednesday. Police handed over the body to the heirs after legal formalities.
HIT TO DEATH: Two persons lost their lives in different roadside accidents here on Wednesday.A youth was killed by a speeding truck in the Ravi Road area. The victim identified as Saad Ali of Ghoray Shah Shahdara, was on his way on a bike when a rashly-driven truck hit him. As a result, he received fatal injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he died. Police arrested the truck driver who was later identified as Mohammad Rafique. Yet in another incident, a 56-year-old man was hit to death by a speeding car in the Green Town area. The deceased was identified as Ahmad Yar.
FOUND DEAD: Three persons were found dead in various parts of the city on Wednesday.A 35-year-old man was found dead in the Data Darbar area. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict, who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police recovered his body from Shesh Mahal Road, Data Darbar. In another incident, a 35-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Ravi Road police station. Some passersby spotted the body of a man lying on Bati Chowk and informed the police. The man, yet to be identified, might have died of natural causes, police believed.
Meanwhile, a 75-year-old man was found dead in Badami Bagh police station area. The man, yet to be identified, was lying dead on Khokhar Road Badami Bagh. Police claimed that the man was an addict and might have died of natural causes. Bodies were shifted to morgue.
ACCIDENTS: Total 621 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which six lives were lost and 530 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 215 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
TRAFFIC: CTO Lahore Wednesday held a meeting at Traffic Line Thokar Niaz Baig to ensure the traffic arrangements during Muharram.He directed the SPs to brief the DSPs, traffic inspectors and wardens for keeping vigil on suspects at entry and exit points of the city. He directed the DSPs to have close liaison with the management of processions and majalis.
He said that a control room had also been established to facilitate the citizens. Parking lots would be established at least 200 yards away from the majalis premises.
WORKSHOP: Two-day training workshop was held at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh for the training of volunteers who will perform duty during Muharram.
Around 300 volunteers, including women participated in the workshop on the first day in which they were imparted technical know-how in handling walkthrough gates and metal detectors and checking people at majalis and processions.
As per SP headquarters, the lists of volunteers participating in the workshop had been compiled and the process of their verification was in progress through Special Branch.
