LAHORE
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday extended contract of four Election Tribunals (ETs) judges for the period of two months.
The LHC has directed that these ETs should dispose of remaining election petitions soon and no further extension would be granted. The LHC had constituted five ETs in Punjab on May 1, 2013 to dispose of alleged polls rigging cases and 4 out of 5 ETs could not dispose of the cases for different reasons and their period was extended repeatedly.
Now contract of judges of four tribunals operating in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Rawalpindi has also been extended for 60 days. The tribunals are also hearing petitions pertaining to alleged rigging in the National Assembly (NA) constituencies, including NA-122 and NA-125.
