A 45-year-old man succumbed to bullet injuries in the Kahna police limits on Monday.
Police have removed the dead body to the morgue for autopsy and registered an FIR No. 184/15 on the complaint of Ali Raza, son of the victim, under Section 302 of the PPC.
The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Mansha, a resident of Nabi Bakhsh Village. He was a labourer by profession. He has been survived by six children and a widow.
According to Investigation Muharrar Imran Yousaf, the victim was at his home in Nabi Bakhsh Village along with his brother at around 1:30am on Monday when two accused came there and asked about Muhammad Mansha. After identifying the victim, they opened fire on him. When the brother of the victim scuffled with the accused, they left their weapon on the spot and fled.
Family of the victim rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Doctors tried hard to save his life but he succumbed to injuries.
Investigation Muharrar told the media that it seemed like an incident of target killing, and the victim might have had some enmity.
Police have yet to trace out accused.
accidents: At least 614 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which seven lives were lost and 496 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 217 minor injured were provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to a data provided by the PMC, 236 drivers, 23 underage drivers, 115 pedestrians and 369 passengers were among injured of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 152 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 166 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 66 RTAs in Faisalabad with 84 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 41 RTAs and 43 victims.
Details further show that total 720 persons were affected by the road traffic crashes including 536 males and 184 females while the age group of the affected persons showed that 107 were under 18 years of age, 339 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 274 injured were reported above 40 years.
According to the data, 463 motorbikes, 90 auto rickshaws, 91 motorcars, 28 vans, six passenger buses, nine trucks and 67 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.

Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema claimed that a patrolling officer of Traffic Sector Mall-II Saad Waqas was performing his duty at Regal Chowk. He noticed a wrongly parked rickshaw no. LEU-9611 and asked the driver for documents but could not produce the papers and fled. On some doubt, the patrolling officer verified the rickshaw registration and came to know that the rickshaw had been stolen two years earlier. The original owner of the rickshaw was Gul Khan who had registered an FIR no. 685/13 at Naseerabad Police Station for his rickshaw’s theft. Stolen rickshaw was handed over to the Civil Lines Police.
The CTO directed the traffic wardens to stay alert on duty and keep an eye on the suspicious persons and things around.
The CTO further appealed to the public to call Traffic Police Helpline 0423-1915 for landline and 1915 for mobile for any suggestions and queries.
