Pillion riding banned for two days

The Sindh Home Department has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and Hyderabad for two days, July 8 and July 9 (today and tomorrow), under section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code and a notification in this regard was issued on Tuesday.
The ban has been imposed as part of security measures for Youm-e-Ali to be observed on July 9, Thursday, when mourning processions would be held across the city. However, children, women, senior citizens, journalists and LEAs would be exempted from the ban.

Traffic plan
The Karachi Traffic Police on Tuesday announced traffic diversion plan for the 21st Ramzan-ul-Mubarak (Youm-e-Ali) i.e. July 9th. At 1300, the procession woud be taken out from Nishter Park which will terminate at 2000 Hours at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian. The procession would go through Nishter Park, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Boltan Market, Rampat Rai Road, Nawab Muhabbat Khanjee Road.

Diversion routes
As the procession commences, all traffic coming from the city side will be diverted towards Soldier Bazar (Bahadur Yar Jang Road), Coast Guard, Ankle-Saria to Jublie or Nishtar Road. Traffic from Nazimabad would be diverted to Lasbella going towards Nishter Road.
Traffic from Liaquatabad side will be diverted on Martin road towards Jail road. The vehicles shall then proceed via Jamshed Road, Dada Bhoy Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahra-e- Quaideen, Shara-e-Faisal, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fawara Chowk, Shaheen Complex, I.I. Chundrigar Road and Tower.
Vehicles coming from Stadium Road side shall proceed via New M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted at Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shara-e-Quaideen to Shara-e-Faisal.
Traffic coming from Superhighway from Gulberg side shall be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 towards Chowrangi No.2 Nazimabad and shall proceed via Habib Bank Flyover, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Maripur Road.
Traffic approaching towards City from National Highway side shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Dalmia, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No.10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2, Habib Bank, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah, Maripur Road.
Traffic shall not be permitted from Guru Mandir (Roundabout), these vehicles shall be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang road and then towards Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road.
Vehicles coming from the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar via M.A. Jinnah Road would be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road.
No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Numaish under any circumstances.
All vehicular Traffic approaching Numaish via Shahra-e-Quaideen shall not be allowed to proceed from the roundabout of Society Office Roundabout behind Mazar Quaid except those arriving for participating in the procession, having stickers on their wind screens issued from the office.
Traffic going towards Saddar and other Colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of (1) Preedy Street/M.A. Jinnah Road, (2) Court Road Chowk and (3) Fresko Chowk.
Similarly, all vehicular Traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street, Aga Khan Road and Mansfield Street.
No vehicles shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A Jinnah Road from the junction of M.A Jinnah Road/Preedy Street when the procession clears the intersection.
The vehicular Traffic coming from Aga Khan Road from Zoological Garden would not be allowed to reach M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be allowed to proceed up to near Ankle-Saria Hospital.
The junction of Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road up to Shidi Village Road, Aga Khan Road, Delumel Chela Ram Road would be out of bound to all public transport.

Sabil Wali Masjid towards Soldier Bazar (Bahadur Yar Jang Road), Guru Mandir Light Signal), Shara-e-Quaideen / Kashmir Road (Society Light Signal), Lasbella (left towards Nistar Road right Towards Teen Hatti), Crossing of Aga Khan Park cutting towards Soldier Bazar P.S., Mansfield Street / Capri Light Signal Nasra School near Coast Guard Junction of Garden near Uncle Sarya Hospital, Junction of University Road / Sir Shah Suleman Road towards Shara-e-Faisal for heavy Traffic M.A. Jinnah / Aga Khan Road (Garden Chowk), Jamila Street / Jahangir Pattangi (Jublee Cinema Roundabout), Shara-e-Liaquat near Masjid Ahl-e-Hadis, Rafiquee Shaheed Road.
